DETAILS: Constable Atkinson was working in plain clothes when he came across two suspicious men. He approached the individuals and identified himself as police. A firearm was produced and the officer was shot.

George W. Smith

December 12th, 1957

DETAILS: Constable Smith was killed while driving a cruiser to transport a patient to the Ontario Hospital in St. Thomas. He was accompanied by Constable Bennett and Police Matron Mrs. A. Brown. The cruiser collided with a commercial vehicle in a heavy snowstorm. All occupants of the cruiser were seriously injured and taken to Victoria Hospital in London where Constable Smith died.

Francis A. Graham

September 26th, 1947

DETAILS: Constables Graham and George Renaud had delivered a psychiatric patient to the Psychiatric Hospital in St. Thomas. Returning to Windsor, with Constable Graham driving, their cruiser collided with another vehicle just east of Windsor, at the intersection of Walker Road and Highway 98 (at that time). Constable Graham was killed in the collision.

DETAILS: Cst. Beckett was responding to a call about a traffic accident when a vehicle ran a red light. It struck the patrol wagon, throwing him from the vehicle. The wagon rolled over him and killed him.
